Why the name matters.
Taylor made attacking the quarterback central to the outside linebacker position. His 1986 season brought the NFL MVP award and 20.5 sacks as the Giants won their first Super Bowl.
His official career total is 132.5 sacks. The additional 9.5 credited to his rookie season came before sacks became an official NFL statistic in 1982. That distinction matters when comparing eras.
